Valentine’s Day Outfits

Valentine’s Day Outfits

Now, I have been trying to stick to a more intentional sewing schedule but that got a little out of whack with the making of these Valentine’s Day outfits. To be fair I needed to make something for the Minvera blog and I already had my Pietra pants cut out so it wasn’t *too* far out of my way. I had all this fabric I need to use and when I placed them together a pink and red colour palette came together.

I wasn’t sure I would actually be able to finish these garments in time for them to actually be Valentine’s Day outfits, but surprise, surprise I did it! I’m not sure if I am exuberant that I can powerhouse make clothes like this. Or devastated that things take me so long to sew because I am so easily distracted. Maybe I feel a little bit of both.

MILKMAID DRESS

Lydia Naomi Valentines Day Outfits

I have had the pattern for this Lydia Naomi Milkmaid Dress in my stash for a while now. As soon as I saw it I wanted it. However, I was honestly scared about getting the fit right and thinking the style would look ugly on me. Sometimes when I am really excited about a pattern the possibility of it being disappointing stops me from actually sewing it up. I’m sure this sounds silly but I’m also pretty sure I am not alone in this.

I put those fears aside and did an FBA (full bust adjustment) before making up a toile of the bodice part. It fit remarkably well and that is the only adjustment I had to make! The only other variation I made was to add elastic instead of twill tape along the back bodice. The video instructions say you can do this but I actually stretched my elastic out a little bit while sewing so the back fit snugly and didn’t gape open as I moved. *This fabric was gifted to me in exchange for a blog post

PINK PIETRA PANTS

Pietra Pants Valentines Day Outfits

I saw an Instagram sewist made bright bright bright pink pants and wore them with a green chartreuse shirt.  It was love at first sight! Since that moment I’ve wanted a pair of bright pink pants for myself. I found this gorgeous linen looking bright pink fabric on the Minerva website and bought some for myself.

I’ve already made a few versions of the Pietra pants. I even cut out the pieces before this little collection of Valentine’s Day outfits came into being. What good luck it fit right in.

ONE MORE MILKMAID TOP PLEASE

Lydia Naomi Milkmaid Blouse

Of course, then I made the blouse version of the Lydia Naomi Milkmaid dress. In my mind, they make a perfect pair! I know I’ve already made two versions of this pattern but I still want to make more! Just take note that if you are also doing an FBA on the blouse version make sure it can go over your boobs once it’s all sewn up.

Hope you have a lovely Valentine’s Day outfit of your own! I hope today, and every day, you feel loved and cherished.

Happy Valentines Day!
