Ardent Valentine’s Day Card

Making this card felt like coming home. I love designing fun cards for Christmas and Valentine’s Day! With the last couple of years being plague years I just didn’t have any inspiration or motivation to even try. So instead of forcing it I just let those holidays slip by and didn’t make myself feel bad. Ironically I got said plague this year and that directly led to the inspiration for this year’s card. When I was sick I did what I always do when I’m sick, I wrap myself in a cozy blanket and watch Pride and Prejudice! During a feverish viewing of Jane Austen’s most known work the idea for this ardent Valentine’s Day card! I actually made two versions one is a bit sassier than the other.

I knew I wanted to have a bust silhouette so I got a screenshot from the 2005 movie. Don’t be mad at me if Colin Firth is your ride or die. His silhouette was just more detailed! So Matthew McFayden as Mr. Darcy it was.

I then put the image into GIMP and cropped, cut, and filled it until I got this silhouette. Then I smacked it onto a pretty pink background and called it a day. Well not quite, from there I used Canva to add fonts and get the format correct. Canva has a great feature that once your card design is finished you can send it to be printed directly from the website to Staples. This is the first year I’ve had cards printed instead of printing them at home. It’s a lot less stress for me trying to get everything lined up that’s for sure! t’s also the first year I haven’t had to search all over for envelopes since you can add them to your printing order! Cannot wait!
