Donut Bucket List: Twins Donuts
My donut bucket list adventures usually begin with a journey. Whether it be by car or by bus they all involve some degree of travel. Not so anymore as Twins Donuts is a comfortable walk from my house! There is a small degree less guilt when eating donuts if you’ve gone on a jaunty walk to get them. Twins donuts are the new new new kid on the block and are currently only available for Pre-Ordered pickup Monday-Tuesday. If you are into supporting local and adventurous flavours you should get your hands on a box of these!
Quick reminder these reviews are entirely subjective. Just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean you won’t! Here is my subjective rating system:
1 Donut: Terrible and there is no redemption
2 Donuts: I don’t have much nice to say

WHAT DID I TRY?
When I ordered my box of six I didn’t know what flavours were available so I went for a safe pick of “just a mix.” Turns out it was an incredibly smart choice because “just a mix” was a fun combination of unexpected as well as delicious flavours. In total, I got: Leche Dulce Flan, Lemon Curd, Avocado Delight, Nutella Cream Cheese, Bailey’s Cream, and Coconut Latik. Are you drooling? Because you should be!
Let’s start with what we all want to hear about: An Avocado Donut! It’s not as weird as you might think. I was ready to take a nibble, say I’d tried it, and move on. However, this donut was delicious. Yes, it might take your brain a second to enjoy a sweet avocado treat but once you do it’s delectable. It’s like an earthy, creamy filling with white chocolate on the top. Maybe give this one a pass if you aren’t into trying something a bit out there. If the avocado isn’t your thing there are plenty of other sweet flavours to choose from.
Hands down my favourite From Twins Donuts is the lemon curd donut. I’m already a pretty big sucker for citrus flavoured sweets but this one is perfection! The sour and sweet are perfectly balanced and it’s topped with adorable dollops of meringue. This is the best lemon donut I have ever had in my life! As much as I love the other ones I think I could order another six of just this kind!
Also, using a little flan as icing? absolutely genius!

I gave Twins Donuts 4 donuts. The flavours were inventive and exciting but still yummy to eat. All of their offerings, at least when I ordered, were stuffed with filling. Keep that in mind if you like plain rings. I’m excited to see what flavours and combinations they come up with next!
If, like me, you love a lemon meringue pie you have got to order yourself one of their lemon curd donuts. I could gush about how amazing it is for a long time but I will reign myself in.
While you can’t just walk in whenever you want to place an order I think it’s well worth it to plan ahead and get your order in!
