Make Nine 2023
I have spent loads of time curating my Make Nine 2023 list! I am pleased as punch with this list and hopeful that this might be the year I complete my Make Nine. I love making these lists. Maybe just because it’s one of the only times I sit down and dedicate hours to thinking and planning my sewing. It’s also just a fantastic source of inspiration for the upcoming years. At least for me, I find it really easy to get lost in the weeds with my sewing. Anyway, I can’t wait any longer! Here is my Make Nine 2023.
Make Nine 2023 #1: Hyacinth Bralette
I’ve been wanting to update my pyjama drawer with some comfy nightgowns. I have a pastel floral one from La Via En Rose that I love but I don’t always want to fork out $50+ for pyjamas. So, I figured I take a stab at making myself some! The pattern is from Ohhh LuLu and it’s available for FREE!
Make Nine 2: Peppermint Wrap Top
This pattern I debated back and forth on for a while but I’ve been wanting to update my wardrobe with some fancier blouses to coordinate with some trendy colours. I love Peppermint Patterns and this is one I haven’t made yet. I also see a lot of potential for hacking this pattern so, in the end, I kept it on the list. I’m thinking of either making something in satin or in a stretchy baby pink fabric to be a ballet-style top.
Make Nine 2023 #3: Marlo Sweater
This past year I’ve found myself wearing cardigans all the time, unfortunately, I only own two so I’ve been wearing those on repeat. I’d love to have a couple of chunky knit cropped cardigans to wear over my Salt Water Slips. That’s how I’m trying to be this year. Also, my new office is cold AF and I am not about that life.
Make Nine 4: Peppermint Everyday Dress
I made this dress back in 2020 but I made it out of super stiff linen and it just wasn’t something I wanted to wear. So I’d like to give it another try and make something that will be super easy to throw on in the morning. I just want to make it a basic item.
Make Nine 2023 #5: Tamzin Dress
This dress has honestly never been on my radar before but something about it hit the right nerve this year and I just want to make a simple black linen version. I love the pin-tuck details and the waist tie. I think it could become a really core piece in my wardrobe.
Make Nine 6:Evie Bias Skirt
I have had undetermined plans to make a bias skirt for quite a while now and it felt time to make actual plans and find an actual pattern. I hope this year will be the year I actually make it!
Make Nine 2023 #7: Saguaro Set
I’ve seen so many wonderful versions of these sets on Instagram and I am experiencing FOMO. I really want some cute loungewear items. I am not entirely convinced I want to make the top but I definitely want to make the pants!
Make Nine 8: Tulip Dress
I was really trying to squeeze this dress in for 2022 but it was not meant to be. So instead I am pushing it for a 2023 project. My great temptation is just to make this in black jersey but I am trying to push myself and wear some more colours. I guess we’ll see how it goes.
Make Nine 2023 #9: Carolyn Pajamas
In my opinion, you can’t have enough quality pyjama sets. I have some lovely mustard yellow gingham from Minerva Fabric that I cannot wait to make into these! I’m hoping to make this one early on to have maximum lounge potential.
Onwards to 2023!
As I said earlier I am really pleased with my list for Make Nine 2023! Sure there will probably be some detours along the journey because I get drawn in by exciting new patterns. However, I think this might be the year I finally sew all of my Make Nines. Guess we’ll have to see how it goes.
