Make Nine 2022 Plans

Make Nine 2022 Plans

Some part of me feels a little weird making a 2022 Make Nine when I didn’t even nearly complete my 2021 Make Nine. But 2021 is in the past so forget all that nonsense, it’s not going to stop me from looking forward and making goals for 2022! I tried for this year to choose items that would fit into my current ‘style’. Bold assumption of me to think I even have a ‘style’ but I did it to the closet approximation of a ‘style’ I could have. Then I through in bra making because holy hell bras are expensive and finding one that fits is a herculean effort. OKIE DOKIE let’s get into it here are my Make Nine 2022 plans!

1/9 Labellum Bra by Lilypa Designs

Labellum Bra

Looking at my list I think this one will be the most technically difficult but hopefully the most rewarding. It’s overwhelming, at least I found it so, to shop for bra patterns online. I know very little (nothing) about bra making. My sister in law and I made a bralette several years ago but it wasn’t a super comfy fit for me. I know this will probably have a pretty steep learning curve for me. Still I’ve seen some amazing Labellum bras on Instagram and I at least want to try.

2/9 Dream On Dress by Pattern Emporium

Dream On Dress

This dress has so many options! I really want to make a long sleeve maxi dress in black. I know, all those options and I go for the plain one. But it’s the dress I want so it’s the dress I am going to make! The Dahlia Sewciety made exactly the version I want to make in a red floral print. Her Instagram page is a great place for sewing inspiration!

3/9 Heather Blazer by Friday Pattern Co.

Heather Blazer

I wanted to make this pattern back in 2021 but I already had a blazer pattern. I figured I should use the one I had instead of buying a new pattern. Yeah, that was a mistake. Not to name names but the pattern company I ended up using was very limited with the instructions and I cried more than once trying to make it. I know I like Friday Pattern Co. and they have clear instructions and some video tutorials. All this in mind I am willing to take another stab at making a blazer.

4/9 Pona Jacket by Helens Closet

Pona Jacket

At first glance I wasn’t super in love with this pattern. THEN I saw the boiled wool version Helen made and that was a game changer. Something about that version made me see super clearly the jacket I wanted to make. I am hoping to make a beige/oatmeal/camel coloured coat for the spring season. Maybe another shorter version in a fun colour. We’ll see!

5/9 Agnes Jersey Top by Tilly and the Buttons

Agnes Jersey Top

I know this isn’t the most exciting of patterns but I need some basic long sleeve jersey tops. Enough said. I think I’ve made a couple Tilly and the Buttons woven patterns and wasn’t overjoyed with them. Maybe I’ll like the knit patterns more.

6/9 Dress 47 by Cali Faye

Another Instagram account I love for sewing inspiration is DanicaDoesIt. It’s one of the first places I look for ideas. She made the Dress 47 in a burgundy fabric and I was so in love with it. It’s a bit of a risky one for me but if I can pull it off I think it will be darling. The sleeves do make me a little nervous because they might bunch up awkwardly.

7/9 Fleur Robe by Mood Fabric

Fleur Rob

I’ve been wanting a house coat for a really long time. My house gets pretty chilly and I don’t like to get dressed when I first wake up. Hence the need for a housecoat. I figured I should stop putting off making practical garments for myself and just make it! So here it is on the list. Added bonus this is a free pattern! I think this is the only free pattern on my Make Nine 2022 list.

You can get the pattern here: Fleur Robe

8/9 Cottesloe Swimsuit

Cottesloe Swimsuit

Ooops, awkward. This pattern was on my Make Nine 2021 and I never made it. But I still really want it so here we are adding it to the Make Nine 2022 list as well. A lot of the reasons I want to make myself a swimsuit are related to why I want to make myself a bra. I just never want to have to shop for another swim suit in my life. Crying in a fitting room is not a great look for me.

9/9 Elio Top by Allie Olson Sewing Patterns

Elio Top

*See 5/9 then add a fun cross front detail. Yeah, I just want some basic tops and this one will look super fun with some Zaleska necklaces I own. I am anticipating having some struggles with fitting but I’ll have to try before I can find out.

There we have it my Make Nine 2022! Admittedly not the most fantastical or flashy of Make Nines but I am really excited about getting started on these!

What are on your Make Nine 2022 lists? I’d love to hear about it!

Much love Hannah
