2022 Goals

2022 Goals

Let’s talk about a 2022 goal. Or in my case a couple of them. 2021 kinda ended in a dumpster fire for me. If I am being honest what I really want is to sleep through January and pretend I don’t have to deal with life. While this idea temps me I know I’d wake up in February feeling gross and disappointed with myself. Despite what I may want it’s time to dig deep and think about what I want to accomplish with this upcoming year. New year new opportunities! As someone that hates change, even good change, the start of a new year is both exciting and fear inducing. Trying new things and starting new journeys come with the potential for failure which I avoid like the plague. Cliche as it may be the only true failure is not trying. So despite my reticence I sat down and made some plans. I hope you did too! But here we are my 2022 goals!

2022 GOAL 1

goal 1 2022

We’ve had some really scary health things happen in my family in 2021 and it was a cold splash of water to the face. It’s time to get serious about changing bad habits and making positive change to take care of my body. I’ve found that for me the best way to actually change habits is to take make small changes and grow upon them. So I am thinking that each month I will select a smaller health related goal and focus on turning that into a habit. Things like drinking more water, getting a full 8 hours of sleep, being active for 30 minutes a day, etc. It might not make for the most interesting reading but at the moment I think I’ll record how my months go on the blog.

2022 GOAL 2

Another year another Make Nine! I love a check list and I love some direction when it comes to sewing. So once again I have chosen nine projects to try and sew up for 2022. I’ve talked about it on the blog before and will most likely continue to talk about it after so for now I’ll just a quick run down of my Make Nine for 2022.

2022 GOAL 3

2022 goal 3

I’ve been learning to make and uphold boundaries in the last couple years. As a people pleaser saying ‘no’ did not come easily to me. Really one of the only reasons I started that journey was because I got so burnt out I was a husk of myself. Coming from that place of burn out I swung back a bit too hard. I think I started assuming everyone was just out to take advantage of me so I just started saying no to everything. As I’ve looked at myself I don’t really love what I see. I’m so much more closed off with little to no time and energy for others.

I don’t want to be that person anymore. I know that I needed to learn that lesson on saying ‘no’ but now that I’m able to say ‘no’ it means I can also give a genuine ‘yes’ to things. It’s not a ‘yes’ because I feel like I have to but because I want to. So in 2022 I want to focus on being more generous. Specifically generous with my tie and my energy. When a family member asks how my day was I want to put down my phone and give them my full attention. I want to say ‘yes’ to meeting up with friends or to helping them move. I want to give my time generously.

Does any of that make sense? The ideas have been tumbling around my head to much I’m not sure they are cohesive to anyone but myself.

Happy New Year Everyone!

I’d love to hear about your goals and aspirations for 2022!

Hannah
