IKEA DIY: Copper Light

IKEA DIY: Copper Light

When things come into ‘style’ I will pretty much without fail start to like it just as it’s on the way out. Naturally, when copper was everywhere I really disliked it and thought it looked tacky. UNTIL my brother one year for my Christmas got me a copper picture frame. That was the moment I realized copper was actually so cool. How did I not always like it? Craziness.

Since that moment I’ve wanted to incorporate more copper decor type things into my room. When I saw this IKEA light I loved the bones of it but not the colours. Light Bulb Moment! Plus this light was on sale for $9.99. Win-win.

I already prepared a spot for this light before I even started this project. From the look of it, I thought I could remove the inner pink part and paint that white and the rest copper but Surprise! This might be the only IKEA product that comes assembled and you can’t take it apart.

The upside of my inability to take it apart is that this was a two-step DIY. Step one tape off the inside of the lamp.

Step two borrow your Fathers fancy crocs and spray paint it. Side Note: Don’t paint the pink charging cord it comes with. It won’t dry properly and just feels sticky.

It looks pretty fantastic if I do say so myself. I can once again be stylish for two minutes.
