Sew A Witchy Wardrobe

Sew A Witchy Wardrobe

As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to change colours I become overwhelmed with the desire to dress in all black flowing dresses and lace collars and live my best witchy life. Something about the approach of fall makes me wish I lived in a small cottage and wore Pseudo victorian garb while I whipped up some magical brews. Admittedly it would be easier to just go to the mall and buy some spooky clothes but that goes against my 2021 Resolution so it’s time for some sewing pattern searching. There are only so many garments I can sew in a season so this list is less a plan for myself and more inspiration. Here are some FREE sewing patterns I’ve found to sew yourself a witchy wardrobe. For some of these, you may need to look past the immediate appearance and see the bones of the garment underneath.

Mood Fabric: KIRI DRESS

If you are going to make even one of these patterns I would start with the Kiri dress. It’s a classic shape and can be made with sheer black fabric or even lace. Additionally, the simple corset adds a nice detail. I’m hoping to at least have time to sew up a black corset to wear over the clothes I already own. I have found that Mood Patterns run a little large so I would make a toile first.

Peppermint Magazine: MILTON PINAFORE

I’ve made quite a few patterns from Peppermint Magazine but I haven’t yet made this one. I think this in dark coloured linen would be delightful. I just want to wear this and carry a basket through the woods. What is the basket for? Who knows it’s just how I picture this outfit coming together.

Mood Fabrics: WILLOW CARDIGAN

Is there anything more autumnal than being curled up in a chair, a cup of tea in hand, all wrapped up in a cozy cardigan? Maybe but it’s still pretty autumnal! I definitely want to whip up one or more of these in a dark rib knit or fleece jersey. I might leave off the pockets or raise them up a bit but otherwise, I love this pattern.
