Halloween Fabric 2021

Halloween Fabric 2021

People who sew will tell you that buying fabric is almost a hobby all on its own. I can’t say I disagree with the sentiment. Sometimes when I am having a particularly bad day I will drive myself to the fabric store and just walk around until I feel better. Its hallowed halls soothe my troubled soul. What’s something else I love? Halloween! It’s my favourite time of the year and I spent every month that’s not October counting down to October. Naturally, I double love Halloween fabric. Two things I love combined together! What could be better? As much as my heart tells me to buy every spooky print I can find my head reminds me I need to pay bills and put away savings. Bleh. So to compromise with myself I am cataloging all my favourite Halloween fabrics here on the blog. Like a virtual treasure chest. This way I appease my rational brain while still making my goblin heart happy. Who knows perhaps I’ll let myself buy one or maybe even two of these after all.

FABRIC.COM

Fabric.com is the bread and butter place to buy fabric online. They have a really large selection and the website itself is easy to navigate. By that I mean it has a great search function with a decent amount of filtering options. It is a solid place to start your fabric searches.

Ghost fabric

In some ways, this is the fabric that kicked off this whole list. The glamorous Ghoul herself Midge Munster wore a pair of ghost overalls in one of her YouTube videos. I became a little obsessed and frantically searched for a similar ghost print so I could make myself some Overalls with the Yanta Overalls from Helen’s Closet. This isn’t exactly like Midges but I like the repeat of the pattern as well as the shape of the ghosts.

cotton + steele Lil Monster

I almost didn’t include this one because it’s not immediately clear it even is a Halloween fabric. In the end, I liked the nostalgia feel and how adorable the little pumpkin was!

Type: 100% Quilting Cotton

DRESSEW

Dressew is my ‘local’ fabric store. They have some, but not all, of their fabric stock available to view and purchase online. If you can it’s better and undoubtedly more fun to shop in person. If you aren’t able to do that online purchasing is available to you. I find that their quilting cotton leans to the more expensive side in terms of the price point but you can get really good deals on their other materials.

Ghouls & Goodies Pumpkin Toss By Stacy Iest Hsu For Moda Cream

Not to pick favourites but this one is my favourite. It manages to be subtle but also clearly a Halloween prin. I want to make something like a Gilbert Top or a casual dress. Absolutely obsessed.

Type: 100% Quilting Cotton

This is another subtle one. It’s a gorgeous floral with a bit of a late 60’s groovy feel to it. But it’s also got some cute little spiders that have made their way in. I think a #WeWantQuant dress in this pattern would be delightful.

Type: 100% Quilting Cotton

THREAD COUNT

Full disclosure I have never shopped at Thread Count Fabrics myself buy they seem to have a good website with a large selection of fabric.

SPOOKY N' SWEETER - MISTER NO BODY

Solid chance the name is half the reason I love this print. I love a bad joke. This one is bold and in your face Halloween and I love it!

Type: 100% Cotton

JOANN

Before researching for this post I did not know that we had access to JOANN in Canada. I thought it was just in American Youtuber videos that I am forever jealous of. Once again I have never personally ordered from JOANN but that is just because I did not know this was a possibility for me. On top of their fabric, they have a big selection of spooky Halloween lace and applique.

Orange Buffalo Check Halloween Cotton Fabric

This check pattern gives me Hocus Pocus vibes. At least one of the Sanderson sisters would rock this plaid. I want to make matching pants and blazer with this! Would it be garish and camp? Undoubtedly but that’s what I love about it.

Type: 100% Cotton

Ghost Glow in the Dark Flannel Fabric

Hold onto your heads because I am about to blow your mind! This is GLOW IN THE DARK! Now prepare for great heartbreak, they are sold out. As of writing this, they do still have a couple of designs available that glow in the dark just not this perfect ghost one. I’m really hoping they re-stock it before Halloween.

Type: Flannel

SPOONFLOWER

Spoonflower is a magical online shop that prints fabric to order. They have a massive collection of almost anything imaginable that is created by their users. The fabric is more expensive than other online stores but they are offering something you can’t get from anywhere else. It’s almost too easy to spend hours browsing the selection they have. Trust me, I’ve done it. Spoonflower has the added benefit of letting you have your design printed on a variety of fabric types. Halloween prints are usually only made in quilting cotton.

Never Trust the Living

I have been obsessing over this fabric for so long! It’s designed by the amazing KatieMakesADress. She used the fabric to make a swimsuit and I just want to follow suit and make one myself! The only thing stopping me is I want to toile my Megan Nielsen Cottesloe Swimsuit

Type: Variety

If you want your Halloween to be pastel and adorable this is the fabric for you. It’s got some strong references to The Adams Family as well as the Munsters. There is something so delightful about this perfect mix of spooky meets adorable.
