Donut Bucket List: Their There
Second donut adventure of 2022! This place has been on and off my list for a while. This past weekend I found myself in one of my most favourite places: Granville Island! Normally a Granville Island jaunt would take me right to Lees Donuts! This time though I went for something a bit different. See, I didn’t know Their There was so close by. Since I’d never tried it before and I rarely make it out to this area I ditched my tried and true and took a risk with Their There.
Now a quick reminder that this is just my personal opinion and completely subjective. Just because something might not be my favourite doesn’t mean it won’t be yours. With all that in mind I’ve still made a rating system that looks like this:
1 Donut: Terrible and there is no redemption
2 Donuts: I don’t have much nice to say
3 Donuts: Good but just not my personal tastes
4 Donuts: Great!
5 Donuts: AMAZING and exactly what I wanted
So Their There has a lot of tasty looking breakfast and lunch sandwiches but also pastries baked fresh in house every day. I tried a couple of their mochi donuts! Mochi donuts are like half cake half mochi.
WHAT DID I TRY
I got a plain glazed mochi donut. The mochi donuts I’ve had before were typically a lot thinner than these donuts. I can see why since this donut was quite dense and I couldn’t finish it.
I almost ALMOST got the S’more fritter, I think that’s what it was called, but this grapefruit chai flavour was too intriguing. This is a mochi donut called Opposites Attract.
I ended up giving Their There just two donuts. This part is just me but I’m really not fond of mochi. So that’s really my bad for ordering two mochi donuts. Normally I’d give that 3 donuts because the fault lies with my taste not the donuts themselves. However these didn’t have much flavour. Or maybe there just wasn’t enough icing for the density of this donut. So the overall effect wasn’t wonderful, at least for me. I walked away a little dissapointed I spend $10 on two donuts I didn’t like.
I will say if mochi is your thing and you prefer lightly sweeetened or lightly flavoured pastries these will be perfect for you! They just weren’t my cup of tea.
