Donut Bucket List: Mr Paris Bakery

Donut Bucket List: Mr Paris Bakery

If you follow me on Instagram or have had a few conversations with me then chances are you know I’m more than a little obsessed with donuts. By far my favourite treat! I’m lucky that Vancouver and surrounding cities have an ever-growing donut scene. To keep up with my donut adventures I created a hashtag for myself #hannahsdonutbucketlist if you want to see where I’ve been. But it took me till now to consider writing about my adventures here on the blog! First up on the donut bucket list: Mr. Paris bakery!

Before we being a couple of disclaimers. I’m not writing a review to be mean or put down these places. For the most part, I like everywhere I go. I will let you know what I like and don’t like but bear in mind that this is my completely subjective opinion that just reflects my personal tastes. Just because it’s not my cup of tea doesn’t mean it won’t be yours! So feel comfortable disagreeing with my assessments. That being said there must be rules! There must be order! So here is my ranking scale.

1 Donut: Terrible and there is no redemption

2 Donuts: I don’t have much nice to say

3 Donuts: Good but just not my personal tastes

4 Donuts: Great!

5 Donuts: AMAZING and exactly what I wanted

First Donut of 2022: Mr. Paris Bakery

I put out on Instagram that I was looking for some Greater Vancouver donut suggestions. The only one that came back was Mr. Paris Bakery. I have never heard of this place before and that is such a shame. It’s a little bakery tucked into the corner of a small shopping complex. Unfortunately, I didn’t do my research properly and missed that they only had cream-filled donuts at noon Friday-Saturday. Regardless I did try a couple of others. If you want to try it yourself I’d give their Instagram account ( Mr. Paris Bakery ) a  quick glance to see what’s going on. I definitely think I need to get my act together and go back at noon! Those cream-filled donuts look AH-mazing.

What did I try

I was a bit sad about my scheduling misstep so I got a red bean paste filled donut. Now, I already knew I wasn’t a fan of red bean paste. I grew up with not a lot of money in Mexico so I ate a lot of rice and beans. It’s just firmly rooted in my head that the texture of beans has to be savory. Unfortunately, I just can’t get over that so I didn’t love this donut. However, this is a good donut and if you’re a fan of red bean paste you will LOVE it!

I also got this spiral donut that just had sugar on the outside. It was yummy and gets a major point for letting me become a donut unicorn.

Mr Paris Bakery report card

Overall I give this place a 3/5 rating. It’s good and I want to come back for the cream-filled but the red bean paste was just not my taste preference and the spiral, while good, wasn’t overly amazing. I can see loving this place more once I try some of their other donuts!

Let me know if you go here! I’d love to hear what you think.
