Donut Bucket List: Donuteria

Donut Bucket List: Donuteria

Is it even a weekend if you don’t get donuts? I mean technically yes but you have to agree a weekend is improved with the addition of Donuts! I’d heard really mixed reviews of Donuteria so I was excited to see for myself. Side note for some reason I just could not find their storefront and walked past it a couple of times. This is just me being stupid because they have a big pink sign. Donuteria makes brioche donuts in New West. They do seem to sell out quite often so get there early if there is a particular donut you want to try!

A reminder that these reviews are entirely subjective and based upon my personal tastes. Just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean you won’t! As a reminder here is my rating system!

1 Donut: Terrible and there is no redemption

2 Donuts: I don’t have much nice to say

3 Donuts: Good but just not my personal tastes

4 Donuts: Great!

5 Donuts: AMAZING and exactly what I wanted

WHAT DID I TRY?

Donuteria Sampling

So many donuts, so so many. I went with some lovely friends so we got a dozen donuts to share. All in All, we ordered: Cherry & Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Tiramisu, Raspberry Swirl, Coconut & Pineapple, Chocolate Strawberry Filled, Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, Another Pineapple One I forgot the actual name of, Maple Bacon, Vanilla Sprinkle, Maple Walnut, and Apple Filled. If you are reading this list and thinking: That’s not enough donuts! You would be right I also got the Donut breakfast sandwich.

Check out their website here: Donuteria

(Spoiler Alert we weren’t able to finish them all) But overall I loved these donuts. The brioche dough is so soft and fluffy without being too airy and hollow. I somewhat embarrassingly declared “It’s like a cloud in my mouth.” After taking my first bite. You know what though I stand by that statement! Super delicious. But what is the best of the best you might be wondering? We all loved the Tiramisu donut the most and I am still thinking about it now. I also really really loved the cream cheese and bacon breakfast sandwich. Unlike a lot of other places, Donuteria used an unglazed donut to make the sandwich. You get that beautiful brioche donut without adding tons of sweetness.

Donuteria Review

I gave Donuteria a 5 donut review. The dough was excellent and the Tiramisu donut was perfection. Overall I didn’t have a donut I didn’t like. (NOTE the lovely folks I went with were not overly fond of the raspberry used in the raspberry swirl and wanted more apple texture in the apple-filled donut. Bare in mind) I didn’t mind either of those things but if you like apple texture and don’t like an artificial raspberry jelly I’d order a different donut. Have I mentioned how good the Tiramisu is? You should try that one.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel with straight peanut butter being used as an icing but it worked wonderfully. If you aren’t overly fond of sweetness the Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Donut would be a good choice for you.

They do also get more points from me for using my favourite sprinkles! I don’t like the sphere rainbow sprinkles they are too hard. I prefer the stick-shaped rainbow sprinkles. But that’s just me being fussy.

Let me know what your favourite donut from Donuteria is! It’s a place I will be going back to again!
