Merry Grinchmas!

Merry Grinchmas!

I have such fond Christmas memories of being with my whole family and watching the original How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

This magical little movie that makes you feel like people can always change and that Christmas is joyful and glorious. I like this movie. Plus as a bonus you get Horton Hears a Who! at the beginning of the VHS, which also just warms your heart.

I can be a pretty big movie geek. But like, the kind that still hasn’t seen a bunch of classics but can talk to you for hours about Nacho Libre. That kind. Combining movies with anything is a good mix in my mind. Thus the Christmas Movie + Christmas Party combo was brought forth! December can be crazy busy for people so my family likes to have open houses opposed to parties. The larger time window means more people can fit it in between parties.

FOOD:
When it comes to parties I turn up for the food. So that was the first focus. In order to avoid having to be heating up food all day long, we decided to go with cheese and crackers etc. Plus I LOVE cheese. So any opportunity for a cheese plate I’m down for. We decided to have a few show pieces that tied into the theme. Doubles up as delicious food and decorations.

DRINKS:

Honestly, I think half the fun of hosting parties is coming up with fun cocktails to serve. Most of our planning time was thinking up drinks and names we could call them. We settled on two cocktails and two shots and printed up this cute little menu: Grinchmas Drink Menu

Be warned the Cindy Lu is absolutely delicious and easy drinking. But I think my favourite might have been the Gin Tingler.

For the shots, we premixed them and put them in these cute little bottles. The labels I made using GIMP: Grinchmas Labels

DECORATIONS:

I’m the type of person that really commits to a theme. I go all out. But I also realize not everyone is like that. So to make everyone get on board with this How the Grinch Stole Christmas party I made a bunch of quirky party hats! Shout out to the Dollar Store for all this kitschy weird Christmas stuff I could hot glue onto a headband. Also shout out to my fam jam for putting up with all this.

Around the house, we had a ton of Christmas lights, garlands, and our Christmas tree. Also went to IKEA and bought these Advent Houses to make a little Who village around the house. They are pretty cheap and look adorable. To make our little house seem more Dr Seuss I made up some labels and signs. On the bathroom doors was this sign,

OR this one,

What I love about Christmas is people taking the time out of their busy schedule to get together and catch up. It’s a special time and leaves me feeling all warm inside. So thankful to everyone that turned up. I was having so much fun I completely forgot to take pictures of the actual party part. This was pretty much the only one I managed.

It’s pretty great and showcases all the hard work that was put in….. Well, it shows that people seemed to have a pretty good time.

Merry Christmas!
