Last Christmas Card
Well, ok I was Waaaaaaay behind making my card this year. You know how it goes things get busy and time gets away from you. None of this was helped by me initially going with a completely different design. I hand-painted and did all this work on my first idea only to realize it was stupid and I hated it. So then I was stuck with no ideas. Then something lucky happened, I had to work overnight. This offers a lot of time to think and ponder and this idea took form. Much to the embarrassment of my family my favourite Christmas song is WHAM’s Last Christmas. I accept no judgement as it IS the best Christmas song ever. How could I not have figured it out earlier, of course, this catchy 80’s Christmas pop song was the perfect inspiration for my card.
It was time to hit the drawing board, of course, playing WHAM on repeat. Some of the earlier drafts were not as fantastic, to say the least. This basic line drawing didn’t really seem to be working all that well but I was on a WHAM fueled roll and I would not be stopped.
TA! DA! It all came together. The background inspiration came from the actual Music video for WHAM’s Last Christmas. That 80’s chateau look felt right.
Next step print out the pdf, fold them all, cut them all. Whoever knows how to use a paper cutter is a true hero. I cannot get the hang of it. Always seems like its a good idea to use a paper cutter instead of scissors. It’s a lie. It’s always a lie. So cutting all these cards took almost more time than making the entire design.
