We’re here in part 3 and things are getting real. I had a dream last night that it was October 30th and I had to mad dash to try and sew up an entire Halloween costume in an hour. I woke up stressed and it’s …
Just two girls and our efforts to be creative and get by.
When this blog started with was mostly an outlet to showcase some of the projects and DIYs that we were really proud of. Since then it has expanded to include a few other things. Crafts of all kinds are still the cornerstone for this blog! There’s a definite reason this category is much bulkier than the other ones. Now, I can’t say we are always the most successful at the projects we tackle but we’re always honest about the successes and the failures. I hope if you’re reading this you enjoy the posts we’ve written tracking the skills we build. Mostly we hope you learn a few things and laugh a little. Honestly, no time for instructional blog posts that take themselves too seriously. It’s about having fun, learning some new skills, and making your way through the long list of things you’ve always wanted to make.

I get asked a lot (ok, maybe twice) what sewing patterns I think are good for beginners. This is an excellent question so I’ve made a list of three levels of beginner sewing patterns for you fellow beginner sewists! The levels start super duper easy …
Can I ever sew enough pyjama sets? No, I can never have enough. Spring is starting and it felt like a good time to make up some warmer weather pyjamas. I tend to just sew for myself but in the spirit of generosity, it was …
I’m trying to do this thing in my sewing life where I slow down my output and focus on making really intentional things. To keep to this practice means stopping myself from getting distracted and immediately sewing up whatever garment strikes my fancy. I get …
Health Goal April Update Surviving. That’s it. That has been my goal for April. Before the month started I had loftier ideas about what I wanted to accomplish. However, it became really clear to me I was pushing myself towards a cliff edge and …
I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had my nails professionally done. I’ve enjoyed it every single time I’ve had them done but I am cheap and don’t like talking on the phone to book appointments. Also up until recently, my …
Quick little catch-up. Two YouTubers Frugalisima and The Yorkshire Sew Girl run an Instagram sewing competition. The rules are to make a project from fabric you already have in your stash and use a pattern that is available free to everyone. The last thing to …
